HOW TO:
CLOSE A PROJECT

Home   |   How-Tos   |   Close a Project

The Project is Complete, now What?

Appointment of Lien Agent filings remain in the LiensNC system indefinitely. Therefore, there are no online 'closing' capabilities for LiensNC filings because there is no prevision for this in the NC statute. However, Notice to Lien Agent filings may be cancelled within five years of the original filing date.

Please consider the following aspects once the project is considered closed:
  1. There are no further actions necessary to the Appointment filing through LiensNC.
  2. All closing processes and inquiries should be handled through traditional channels, as they are not associated with LiensNC. (This includes release and/or waiver forms) Learn more about cancelling a Notice filing
  3. Future Notice filings can still be made on a closed project, since the Appointment remains searchable in the online system.
  4. To avoid being notified of any future activity, you can simply unsubscribe from receiving any further email notifications. (This action will be effective immediately.)
  5. If you need further assistance with a closed project, we suggest you contact a NC attorney.
